I've found a gown I like but it's too expensive. Can you copy it for me?
Due to copyright laws I will not copy another's design, but I am happy to use it
as inspiration to create an original design.
Can you make me clothing from a commercial pattern?
If you find a commercial pattern that is exactly what you want made,
I am happy to use it to make a garment for you. However please be aware that
this will not necessarily save you money, as time taken in fitting and alterations
may take just as long as drafting an original pattern.
Do you make garments by mail order?
I am happy to create gowns by mail order. I will consult with you as to design and fabrics,
and will proceed with construction once a deposit and measurements are received. I email
photos of completed garments for final approval before posting. I will assume that
any measurements you give me are accurate and will not take any responsibility for
garments not fitting due to incorrect measurements. Also please be aware that the
fit of the garment will never be as accurate by mail order as it would be in person.
However I am happy to make any alterations to completed garments at your cost.
How long does an order take?
Evening gowns and corsets take approx 4 weeks to complete. Wedding dresses and
period costumes can take anywhere from 3-6 months depending on the complexity of the design.
Items may be able to be made in a shorter time period, depending on my schedule.
Contact Scarlet Couture for further details. An extra fee may apply for such items.
Placing an Order
The first step is to contact Scarlet Couture for an obligation-free consultation.
Once a design and fabric is decided on, you will receive a quote for your design.
A 50% deposit is then required before any work takes place.
A toile or calico mock-up of the garment will be fitted to the client,
and once approved it will be made up properly.
The item must be paid in full before handing over to the client.
How much do your dresses cost?
As each item of clothing is individually tailored to each client it is almost
impossible to give an approximate cost. However basic corsets can start from
£100, evening and bridesmaids dresses can range from £150-300 and period gowns and
wedding dresses can range from £500-2000. All prices are dependant on the style,
fabric and decoration involved in the design.
By allowing customers to choose from a wide range of fabrics and embellishment options,
we allow customers to be involved in the budget process and can control their expenses.
Will you copy costumes from movies or paintings?
While it is almost impossible to make an exact replica of another gown, I can make costumes based on them.
